Diet for Office Goers

Most of office goers in the urban areas lead a life where balance between work and leading a healthy lifestyle is the most difficult to maintain and sustain. The moment people wake up in the morning the rush starts to get ready and leave for office. In this hurry they eat whatever they got easily since they have a lot of work to do and to add to it most office goers have sedentary office jobs which means they work for 8 or more hours and do not engage in any physical activity.

Wrong eating pattern brings shortage of important nutrients in your body and the health start decreasing gradually. Adopting poor eating patterns can contribute to obesity, heart problems, diabetes, digestive problems, skin problems etc. If you work in night shifts you are even more prone to many health related issues such as irregular appetite, weight gain/loss, gastric problems, and sleep disturbances. This is possibly due to too much caffeine, high fat snacking, and infrequent eating at day time and over eating at night.

Here are some healthy tips for office goers to maintain a healthy weight and lead a diseases free life:

  • Don’t skip meals especially breakfast.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Minimise the consumption of coffee or tea to 2 cups maximum.
  • Choose healthy options
  • Avoid fried and greasy food from office canteen.
  • Reduce sugar, salt and alcohol intake.
  • Try to move as much as possible. Even while sitting you can exercise by rotating your arms and feet. Use stairs istead of lifts as much as possible.
  • Try to eat at regular times it helps keep your metabolic rate up.
  • Have something healthy always with you like a fruit, some dry fruits,roasted chana,salted lassi etc.
